Elena Udrea gave a thorough evidence of rectification, was not disciplined, had a constantly positive conduct throughout the execution of the sentence deprived of liberty and was rewarded in 16 lines, writes in the reasoning of the Ploiești Court regarding the admission of its conditional release, quoted by Agerpres. Elena Udrea was sentenced to six years in prison in the Gala Bute file. According to the court, the execution of the conviction began on 16.06.2022 and was to expire in time on 28.08.2027, as a result of reducing the preventive arrest and the period made in Costa Rica and Bulgaria.

The court held that the punishment of Elena Udrea is 2,192 days, and, to become eligible for conditional release, it was necessary to execute at least 2/3 of the prison, respectively 1,461 days.

“As the convicted person has a total of 1,478 days won and executed (of which 81 days as a result of lucrative activities, of school training and professional training, of the scientific works elaborated or of the patented inventions, 280 days as a result of the preventive measures and 12 days as a compensatory measure for the execution of the preventive measure, in the case of the action, fulfilled the condition regarding the execution of the punishment fraction compulsorily established by the legislator, taking into account the period elapsed from the registration of the conditional release until its settlement ”, the document is mentioned.

Thus, the court states that the documents from the file follows that Elena Udrea was selected and distributed to lucrative activities carried out inside the place of detention, accumulating a number of 81 days considered executed as a result of the work performed.

“According to the characterization prepared by the administration of the place of detention, the court notes that the petitioner had a constantly positive conduct for the entire duration of the execution of the sentence deprived of liberty, manifesting an attitude of respect towards the institutional norms, adapting according to the prison environment and actively involving in the activities,”

They also state that from the activity of Elena Udrea “it turns out that the convicted person has given a thorough evidence of rectification, being proposed for conditional release, with the mention that the legal requirements are met.”

Elena Udrea was not disciplined during the execution of the sentence and was rewarded in 16 rows, the last reward being granted on 16.05.2025, the source quoted shows.

Also, the court mentions a minor daughter in maintenance, to which he has legal and moral obligations for support, growth and education.

The decision, challenged by DNA

The Ploiești Court decided on Tuesday that Elena Udrea can be released from the penitentiary. The decision was challenged by Mrs. Ploiești. The final decision will belong to the Prahova Tribunal.

Udrea was discharged on Wednesday, from the Ploiești County Emergency Hospital, after, on Sunday, he underwent surgery as a result of an acute lithiasis cholecystitis.

At the end of May, the Prahova Court admitted the enforcement appeal made by Udrea and ordered the deduction from the six-year prison sentence that it received in the 'Gala Bute' file of a cumulative period of about eight months.

The former minister was incarcerated in the Târgșor Penitentiary of June 2022, after the extradition from Bulgaria.

Elena Udrea was sentenced to 6 years in prison in the Gala Bute file and was forced to pay 9 million lei damage to the state. Although he has initiated forced execution procedures, ANAF failed to recover the amount. Two years ago, the institution announced that it had recovered only 1% of this amount.
