Barcelona wants to keep Robert Lewandowski (37 years old) at Camp Nou in the coming season as well. The extension offer prepared for the striker is, however, considerably lower.
Barcelona would have proposed a new contract proposal for the striker. Despite his age, the Pole remains a central figure in the club's plans.
Barcelona offer Robert Lewandowski 50 percent less
According to the newspaper “Sport”, Barcelona presented Lewandowski with a proposal that would allow him to extend his stay in Catalonia beyond the 2025-26 season. However, the terms of the deal reflect the club's continued financial constraints, requiring the 37-year-old to take a pay cut of around 50% of his current salary.
The offer also contains various performance bonuses, which could increase his earnings if he maintains his high productivity on the field.
This proposal comes at a time when several clubs around the world are monitoring the striker's situation. MLS side Chicago Fire have declared a strong interest, while Saudi Arabia remains an attractive alternative.
The Pole, however, does not seem to be in a hurry. Speaking to The Athletic recently, he said: “I don't know. I can't tell you anything right now because I'm not even 50% sure of the path I want to take. It's not the right time for it.”
Lewandowski has scored 16 goals in the 37 games he has played in this season. He also has 3 assists.
