US President Donald Trump announced that he will talk to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin on Thursday, and what a Ukrainian source has stated for Reuters that Trump could discuss Ukrainian leader Volodimir Zelenski on Friday.
“I will discuss with the President of Russia, Putin, at 10:00 (US, no). Thank you!”, Trump wrote on his social media platform. He did not specify what topics will be addressed.
The two leaders have already spoken five times on the phone after Donald Trump returned to the White House in order to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible and regulate bilateral relations, AFP recalls.
On Friday, Trump and Zelenski are expected to discuss the abrupt interruption of important American weapons to Kiev, the Ukrainian president will approach the possibility of weapons in the future, said previously on Thursday Financial Times (FT).
But the moment when the telephone call will take place could be modified, FT added, citing people familiar with the plans of this call.
The White House did not respond to Reuters's request to comment on the information about the telephone discussion with Zelenski.
The US suspended some critical weapons deliveries to Ukraine due to low stocks, sources for Reuters have previously said.
This decision caused Ukraine to convene on Kiev on Wednesday the special US emissary to emphasize the importance of continuing military aid from Washington and to warn that this measure would weaken Ukraine's ability to intensify Russian air attacks and the advance of Russian troops on the battlefield.
