Romania has spent too much on an inefficient state, which is why it has now had to take measures that affect the population revenues to solve the problem of the budget deficit, said Ilie Bolojan, on Thursday night, in an interview with Antena3 CNN.

“Romania is a country that has been spending more for many years than it allows. When you try to recover developing delays, you sometimes have to take loans to cover investments.

He explained how the difference between the country's income and expenses led to this situation.

“We are in a situation where every 100 lei that the country collects from taxes and taxes, we spent 30 lei, so we spent 130 lei. This year the difference between revenues and expenses is over 30 billion euros,” said the prime minister.

Among the measures that will be part of this project are VAT reassemble on two thresholds, general share to 21% and a reduced share of 11% (drugs, food, horeca), increase in dividends from 10% to 16%, increased alcohol, tobacco, fuel by 10%, freezing the increase of pensions and salaries in 2026 Pay the contribution to health, tax on banks' profits and gamble gains.
