Higher fines, and in the last resort, prison sentence for significant speed and lifetime receiving rights for not taking the ban on driving – these are some of the government's proposals that are to help fight road pirates.

From three months to five years in prison – in accordance with the government draft regulations – it will be threatened by drivers who will significantly exceed the speed, not only on the highway or expressway, but also on national and provincial roads.
What speed is behind the word “significantly”? It depends on the road on which the permissible speed will be exceeded. According to Interia:
- In the case of motorways and expressways, it will be half of the permissible speed, i.e. usually 210 and 180 km/h, although in the case of speed limits, you will be able to go to prison, driving up to 120 or 150 km/h.
- On national and provincial roads, i.e. those where, as a rule, the permissible speed is 90 km/h, the prison will be threatened with exceeding it twice.
However, there is one “but” in the new regulations. A driver who will significantly exceed the speed and will drive faster than the aforementioned values will have to at the same time
It is grossly violating the principles of road safety and threaten the safety of other traffic participants with your behavior.
Illegal races, drift and riding on one wheel
Higher penalties are also provided for the organizers and participants of illegal races, which in the regulations were referred to as “Competition of at least two drivers who want to overcome a specific section of the road in the shortest possible time in violation of road safety rules“.
In this case, the government provides for a prison penalty of three months to five years.
In addition, if a driver participating in an illegal race, driving a vehicle in a daring or breaking prohibition of driving, causes an accident with a fatal effect or will lead to severe damage to the health of another traffic participant, will be punishable by imprisonment from a year to 10 years.
Higher penalties will also be threatened with acrobatics on motorcycles, e.g. riding on one circle and drifting, which in the regulations was described as “a deliberate introduction of the vehicle in slipping or leading to loss of contact with the surface, even one of the vehicle wheels, made during a generally available assembly, without the required permit.
Recidivists with lifetime bans
The new regulations are also to deal with drivers who do not comply with vehicle driving prohibitions imposed on them. Recididists will be punishable by a penalty of 5 to 10 thousand. PLN, and in the last resort also a life ban and confiscation of the vehicle.
Drunk drivers will also be punished with confiscation. In the event of 0.5 to 1.5 per mil of alcohol in the blood, the forfeiture will be optional and mandatory if the driver has over 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his blood.
