Opening ceremony with the participation of 1.3 thousand people took place on Saturday in the Shining Hat hall on the artificial island of Yumeshima. “I honestly hope that EXPO 2025 will be an opportunity for people around the world to show respect not only for their own lives, but also for the lives of other people and various forms of life that exist in nature, as well as to get inspired to work together to create a balanced future,” said Emperor Naruhito.

The ceremony was also attended by the successor of the imperial throne, Prince Fumihito, acting as an honorary chairman of the exhibition and his wife, Princess Kiko.

The exhibition, lasting until October 13, aims to present solutions to achieve the objectives of sustainable development set by the UN. 158 countries and regions and seven international organizations, including Poland, take part in it.

As the Japanese NHK sender points out, the organizers expect about 28.2 million visitors, including 140 thousand. on the first day.

Japan was already the host of the Expo; She also made his debut in this role in Osaka in 1970.
