Subsidies for remuneration for people 50 plus from June 1, 2025. Details

On June 1, 2025, the Act on the labor market and employment services entered into force.
Every fourth person of working age in Poland is over 50 years old – according to the CSO data, by 2030 people in this age group can constitute up to a third of professionally active Poles. Despite this, ageism – i.e. discrimination because of age – still remains a serious problem.
Subsidies for remuneration and more. New regulations from June 1, 2025
The new regulations introduce a number of amenities for 50 plus jobseekers. The unemployed from this age group can count on priority support in the field of:
-psychological and professional consulting,
– certificate training,
– three -month professional internships in companies.
In addition, unemployed over 50 years of age with at least 20 years of work experience will be able to receive an allowance for 365 days.
Co -financing of remuneration. Benefits for employers
The new act also provides for significant financial incentives for companies employing 50 plus persons. Employers may receive a salary funding of up to 50 percent. minimum remuneration for work per month, which currently means an amount of up to PLN 2333.
The amount and duration of co -financing depend on the age of the employed person:
-12 months for people aged 50-60,
– 24 months for people over 60 years of age.
In addition, for 12 months from employment of a person 50 plus employers are exempt from paying contributions to the Labor Fund, provided that this person was registered as unemployed for at least 30 days before taking up work.
Not only finances: the advantages of employees 50 plus
Experts emphasize that employment of people 50 plus is not only financial benefits, but also intangible assets. Employees from this age group are often distinguished by loyalty, commitment, term and interpersonal skills. Their life and professional experience can be an invaluable advantage for many companies.
Stereotypes regarding health or technological competences of people 50 plus often pass the truth. For example, according to the ZUS report from 2023, people aged 30-39 are the longest on sick leave (26.9 percent of absenteeism), while for the group 50-59 this indicator is 21.7 percent, and for people aged 60-64-only 7.7 percent.
The changes introduced by the new law are a step towards increasing the professional activity of people 50+ and counteracting age discrimination. In the face of an aging society and a decreasing number of people of working age, such solutions may prove to be crucial for the stability of the Polish labor market.
