The first thin sprouts of carrots usually appear only 2-3 weeks after sowing. Having waited for even, friendly shoots, experienced summer residents begin actions: they thin out and fed with a special solution to supply young plants with nitrogen.
The mixture for the first top dressing is easy to cook at home. The main component is ordinary ammonia. It not only serves as an excellent nitrogen, but also scares off the carrot fly with its sharp specific smell, says the author of the “Harmatic Garden and Garden” (16+) channel on Zen platform.
A 10% solution of ammonia is necessary for watering. In 10 liters of water, add 2 tablespoons of the drug and stir well. Pour into the watering can and pour the carrots early in the morning or in the evening so that the liquid does not evaporate instantly.
