Who is the new general manager of the Renault Roumanie Renault Engineering Center

Renault has announced that the RTR Engineering Center has a new general manager now. Thierry Hilaire has been working in Renault since 1994, has a PhD in mechanical engineering in the US and has played an important role in the development of Logan vehicles. The RTR project is one of the largest car investments in the country, was created in 2006 and operates in three sites: in Bucharest, Titu and Mioveni.
What Renault says about the new director
From July 1, Thierry Hilaire will hold the position of general director Renault Technology Roumanie (RTR). In this capacity, he will report to Cédric Combemorel, VP Global Engineering & Tech Renault Group.
In a context in which engineering plays a key role in transforming the company, Thierry Hilaire will have a unique responsibility on the activities and projects carried out within RTR. This integrated approach aims to create a fluid, agile, efficient, coherent and performing way.

Thierry joined the Renault group in 1994, in the research and innovation department, after which he had several responsibilities in the engineering of the assembly and technical documentation. Since 2011, its professional path has continued with expert and leadership roles in the development of vehicle projects, both for the Renault and Dacia brand. In 2021, Thierry took over the leader position of the Logan vehicle family, then Logan Vehicul Vehicles in Technocentre Renault.
Thierry has graduated from the Supmeca Institute in France and owns a doctorate in mechanical engineering at the US Polytechnic Institute in the US.
With the Renault TECHNOLOGIE CENTER ROUMANIE
The RTR project was announced in 2006, and its effective construction started in 2007.
The works were interrupted from December 2008 until July 2009, due to the crisis, but were resumed when Renault found the money, from the EBRD, the drinks and the Romanian state
The three components of RTR are:
- The study offices in Bucharest, which ensure the design and adaptation of vehicles and mechanical organs of the entry range.
- A test center at Titu, whose mission consisted of testing and validating finished vehicles and mechanical organs.
- Teams in Mioveni, which provide technical assistance and industrialization of projects within the Dacia vehicles and Dacia Hams and chassis.
