Herman Berkovits, the personal doctor of Maramureş origin of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was appointed honorary counselor in the team of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

Born in Maramureș County, in Târgu Lăpuş, Herman Berkovits, 78 years old, followed medicine in Cluj, and later left for Israel, where he completed his career. Romania's honorary consul in Israel, he is also Dr. Honoris Causa and decorated by recognized medicine universities, such as those in Cluj, Bucharest and Iaşi.
“I am also an Israeli patriot, and Romanian patriot. I was born here. I did the school, high school and college here. I became known doctor because of the medical education in Cluj. “I am glad that I have this honor, to be part of the team of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. But these things do them from the heart, not for titles, I make them out of love for Romania. I am honored and I am glad that I can make connections between Romania and Israel. My love for these countries makes me be the intermediary of many meetings that matter. Dr. Herman Berkovits is preparing to return to Târgu-Lăpuș, at the 60th anniversary of the completion of the high school.
“Over two and a half weeks, I have the 60th anniversary of the high school. I return to Târgu Lăpuș where I finished high school, where I was born. I will meet with my colleagues. I'm waiting with emotion this moment. I can hardly wait to see the town that I love so much. I lived there, and my mother loved Târgu Lăpuș very much. So patriotism is inside my heart.
