Donald Trump is angry with Iran again. “Why should I tell you about this?”

– They want to make a deal, but I'm not happy with it, so we'll see what happens, said Donald Trump during a conversation with reporters. — We do everything we can in terms of negotiations by phone. There has been progress, but I'm not sure they will ever make it, he added.

— We just had a conversation with Iran. We'll see what happens, but I would say I'm not satisfied. They need to come to the right agreement. At the moment, I am not satisfied with what they are offering, the president repeated.

At one point, one of the correspondents asked: “are you considering new attacks on Iran?” “Why should I tell you about this?” – Trump replied with a question.

During the briefing, he also stated: “I'm not happy with Italy and I'm not happy with Spain. They think it's okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons. Any person who thinks it's okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons is not very smart.” These two countries were previously on Trump's “blacklist”.

What is the state of negotiations with Iran? The United States avoids answering

On Friday, the US administration refused to answer the question whether it had received the latest proposal from Iran regarding peace talks. Earlier, the Iranian state agency IRNA reported that Tehran had sent a negotiation proposal to Pakistani mediators. However, she did not provide any details.

“We do not discuss the details of private diplomatic conversations,” White House deputy spokeswoman Anna Kelly told Reuters. She added that the US president “has made it clear that Iran will never possess nuclear weapons.” She also emphasized that negotiations were ongoing and their goal was to ensure the security of the United States in both the short and long term.

Recently, President Trump extended the ceasefire that has been in force since April 8, but peace talks have stalled and both sides are economically in check. US forces are blocking Iran's ports, which has brought the country's foreign trade by sea to a standstill. At the same time, Iran is effectively blocking the Strait of Hormuz, which in turn has caused paralysis of trade in oil extracted in the Persian Gulf countries.

As a result of the blockade that has been going on for two months, the prices of raw materials have been systematically rising, and air carriers are increasingly concerned about possible transport difficulties caused by prices and shortages of aviation fuel. On Thursday, the price of crude oil reached its highest level in four years on global markets.

The talks between the Iranian and US delegations scheduled for the previous weekend in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, did not take place. Trump announced on April 22 that the ceasefire would remain in force “until Iran submits a new proposal to end the war and complete talks on this topic.” At the same time, he announced the maintenance of the blockade of Iranian ports.
