The heat wave in France led to the stopping of one of the nuclear power plants, which had to be turned off, because the water from the Garonny River used for cooling reached a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius – wrote on Tuesday the daily “Ouest France”.

According to the local journal “Sud Ouest”, the Golfech power plant in the department of Tarn and Garonna in the south of France has not been working since Sunday. The EDF Energetyczna company announced the stopping of the power plant on Monday.
“Climate conditions in recent days have caused a strong increase in Garonna temperature,” Edf noted, adding that, according to the law of September 18, 2006, you can introduce a limitation of power plant operation.
EDF explained that because the demand for energy is low, it decided to completely stop the power of the power plant until July 2, but if the situation required, one could only limit the reactor's work, still providing energy.
In France, Tuesday is the day of the greatest heat intensity; In 16 departments a red, highest weather alert was announced. Locally, temperatures will reach 41 degrees C. In Paris, the peak of the Eiffel Tower will be closed to visitors to Wednesday inclusive. (PAP)
