Elena Udrea can be released from prison, Prahova Court has decided

Elena Udrea can be released conditionally, after executing 3 years and 10 months in prison from the sentence received in the Gala Bute file, the Ploiești Court decided. The decision is not final, and the DNA can appeal in three days.
The Ploiești Court made today, July 1, the decision on the conditional release of the former Minister of Development, 51 years old, according to News.ro.
The former minister received this news in the hospital. She was admitted and operated on Sunday after being diagnosed with acute lithiasis cholecystitis
A week ago, Elena Udrea burst into tears in front of the judges, when she asked to be released. At the same time, the DNA opposed its release and asked the court to reject the request. Anti -corruption prosecutors claimed that the former minister was not rehabilitated.
Convicted in the Gala Bute file, to 6 years in prison
Elena Udrea was sentenced to 6 years in prison in the Gala Bute file and was forced to pay 9 million lei damage to the state. Although he has initiated forced execution procedures, ANAF failed to recover the amount. Two years ago, the institution announced that it had recovered only 1% of this amount.
Elena Udrea is incarcerated in the Târgșor Penitentiary of June 6, 2022. In addition to the three years of uninterrupted detention, the judges reduced them from the conviction nine months of imprisonment, representing the periods of preventive arrest, house arrest executed both in Romania and in Costa Rica, respectively Bulgaria.
Elena Udrea was sent to court in the Gala Bute file, in 2015. According to DNA, the former minister coordinated a system by which the closest persons received, with his science, amounts of money from representatives of trading companies to guarantee the work of the works financed by the ministry.
The amounts obtained, the investigators showed, entered either directly into the heritage of Elena Udrea (in cash or by paying goods and services), or in the patrimony of some people indicated by it (the Bucharest organization of the PDL and Rudel Obreja).
