Any suspension of Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (Maea) would involve serious consequences, because the risk of secret enrichment of uranium and obtaining by the authorities in Tehran nuclear weapons would increase – warned the German weekly “Der Spiegel” on Friday.

This week, the Iran Parliament has adopted a law suspending cooperation with the International Energa Atomic Agency (Maea), it was also approved by the Council of the Guardians of the Constitution. In order for such a decision to enter into force, however, it must also receive it the Supreme National Security Council, an institution depending on the highest spiritual and religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Chamenei. It is not known what position the authorities in Tehran will last.
“Der Spiegel” alerted about the “serious consequences” of the possible suspension of cooperation between the Iranian website and Maea.
“Iran would no longer let inspectors into the country, and new nuclear objects would not have to be reported. It would be difficult to (also) an independent assessment of the extent of damage caused by the bombing of the three main Iran nuclear facilities by the US and Israel. Similarly, it would also be difficult to determine to what extent Iran's nuclear program was stopped” – we read in the German Weekly Opinion.
“Der Spiegel” warned that in the absence of maea “Iran could be secretly enriched Uranus.”
Before the June war with Israel, Maea inspectors regularly controlled Iranian nuclear facilities, and Iran had about 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 percent. “Experts believe that it has not been destroyed. They also claim that the country still has centrifuges to enrich uranium and the ability to continue their production,” noted “Der Spiegel”.
He also emphasized that in the event of Iran's cooperation with Maea, “the risk of obtaining nuclear weapons” by Tehran would increase. “If (Iranian) political leaders decide to build a nuclear bomb, they could (then) do it in secret” – added the weekly. (PAP)
