Ikkal 69 years without a break – the story of a man who has become a hostage to his own body

Imagine that you are not a couple of minutes, but for 68 years – every day, every minute of wakefulness. This is not an invention, but the real story of Charles Osborne, a farmer from Aiova, whose life has changed after an absurd case with a pig. IA EAOMEDIA tells how he coped with this unusual test, preserving optimism and living a bright life.

Osbourne was an ordinary farmer from Nebraska, and the hiccups overtook him at the moment when he weighed a pig, and, according to the doctors, it was then that he had small vessels in the brain that are responsible for respiratory control. Since then, he hicked about 20 times per minute – and so every day.

Doctors were lost in conjecture, tried everything – from folk methods to serious therapy. Osbourne even learned to speak over hiccups, and later he almost forgot how to speak in order to at least somehow cope with this background. But he did not give up. He married (twice) started children, worked – although this annoying sound accompanied every moment of his life.

And only at the age of 97, hiccups suddenly stopped. Just like that. No treatment, for no reason. He lived without her for about a year and died, as if the body decided: “Well, that's all, you can relax.” The story of Charles Osborne is a reminder of how much a person is able to withstand. And how strange sometimes our body behaves.
