A contract worth the removal of hazardous waste from the burned landfill of hazardous waste in the area of ul. Ostrogórska and ul. Radocha signed the authorities of Sosnowiec on Friday. The work will be financed by a government subsidy awarded this year.


As the spokesman of the Sosnowiec magistrate Rafał Łysy donated on Friday, the contract was signed with a consortium of companies, whose leader will be FCC Pro Eko from Radomsko, and participants of Sarpi from Dąbrowa Górnicza and Transbud-Wulkan from Będzin.
It will be a three -year task. First, the objects that are located in the landfill must be demolished, then the materials collected there will be removed, and the next stage will be their utilization. The first stage of work will end in June 2026, the second in June 2027.
This area has been used for years by various companies and entities. Hazardous waste began to appear there, including chemicals. The first fire occurred there in September 2020, and to the next at the beginning of 2022.
In 2022, the fire covered an area of about 7.5 thousand. sq m, the city estimates that there are about 6,000 tons of waste, in burned or overwritten parts. Part of the waste is located on the prying after the fire, some in buildings suitable for demolition – in barrels and in the form of spilled sludge.
As firefighters reported after a fire, The landfill burned, among others Liquid chemicals accumulated in thousand -liter plastic tanks, probably petroleum materials, or solvents, and then plastic waste collected nearby.
The works will be financed thanks to the government subsidy for the liquidation of dangerous landfills. They were enabled by the amendment to the Waste Act, which entered into force on January 1, 2025. Under it, local governments can receive more than the previous 80 percent. co -financing.
This year, PLN 200 million was secured for this purpose in the targeted reserve of the state budget. Lands in the province were qualified for the subsidy. Śląski, Świętokrzyskie, Łódź and Lesser Poland.
Potential locations were selected on the basis of lists of voivodship environmental protection inspectorates with selected places of illegal deposit of waste, especially those that can threaten the life and health of people and the environment.
In the recruitment of the state budget, the voivods gathered information about illegal landfills from administration bodies and indicating the availability of the relevant bodies to undertake their removal in 2025. Proposals of potential locations came to the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, of which 23 met formal criteria.
Sosnowiec for this year's work was initially received by approx. PLN 30 million; Later, the city also got a guarantee of PLN 42 million for further necessary works. Similar, two or three-year projects will be conducted in the region in Siemianowice Śląskie, Szczekociny and Mykanów. In total, this purpose will go in the province.
