The prosecutor's office is investigating irregularities in the second round of presidential elections

The District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk is conducting proceedings regarding the failure to fulfill his duties by members of the electoral commission on June 1-2, 2025. According to investigators, there were irregularities during the counting of votes that could have influenced the final result of the presidential election. According to the information provided by the prosecutor's office, the committee members were to mislead the number of votes cast for individual candidates when entering data into the system of the State Electoral Commission.
Investigators emphasize that the actions of the Commission may have violated the public interest, which is to conduct elections in a reliable way and in accordance with the principles of democracy. The case was qualified as a possible violation of Art. 231 parish 1 of the Criminal Code in the convergence of art. 248 point 4 of the Penal Code and art. 11 § 2 of the Penal Code.

Voting irregularities
The basis for initiating the investigation were the results of the voting cards examining, which was conducted by the Gdańsk-Południe District Court. During these activities, it was established that the number of votes cast for candidates in the District Electoral Commission No. 17 differed from the one that was published on the website of the State Electoral Commission. According to the court's findings, Rafał Trzaskowski received 585 votes, and Karol Nawrocki 344 votes, while official results indicated the opposite proportion.
The prosecutor's office in its announcement explained that the members of the Commission were to allow abuse when transferring votes from a manual protocol to the PKW IT system, incorrectly attributing the number of votes to the candidates. It was indicated that such action could have been influenced by the correctness of the election.
Investigations also in other cities
Irregularities during the second round of presidential elections are also the subject of investigations in other regions of the country. Earlier, the prosecutor's office in Katowice, Kraków, Jelenia Góra and Bielsko-Biała initiated proceedings regarding similar problems in regional election committees. These investigations include, among others, errors in counting votes and incorrect assignment to candidates. All proceedings are conducted in matters, not against specific persons.
The prosecutor's office emphasized that the case concerns the protection of public interest and ensuring transparency of the election process. Investigators announce further activities aimed at clarifying all circumstances related to the course of elections in Gdańsk and other cities, where similar allegations appeared.
