Kim Jong-un inaugurates a luxury resort with fast. His wife, first appearance after three years

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inaugurated on Tuesday, with a big pump, a spa complex at Wonsan Kalma, on the East Coast. The event also marked the first public appearance of his wife, Ri Sol-Ju, from 2021.

On Tuesday, North Korea inaugurated a new spa resort at Wonsan Kalma, in the province of Kangwon, located on the eastern bank of the country. The images broadcast on Thursday by the state television showed the moment when Kim Jong was cut the inaugural ribbon of the complex, being accompanied by his wife, Ri Sol-Ju, and their daughter, reports Reuters.

It is the first public appearance of the wife of the North Korean leader of 2021. The presence with Kim Jong one at this event symbolizes, in the style of the North Korean propaganda, the importance of the project for the regime.

Wonsan-from a former shopping center, in a tourist destination for the local elite

The new resort is near the city of Portuar Wonsan, an area that has undergone a period of economic prosperity, due to commercial relations with Japan. The ships were transporting passengers and goods between the two countries, including “second-hand” cars and bicycles.

This maritime connection was interrupted in 2006, after Japan suspended commercial relations following the first nuclear test conducted by Phenian.

Access only for North Koreans, from July

Although the new complex has a capacity of approximately 20,000 tourists, the North Korean authorities do not yet allow the access of foreigners. Currently, the Phenian has no travel agreements that allow foreign tourists to visit the Wonsan Complex, official sources have sent.

The complex is to be open to internal tourism starting July 1.
