The PSD advised its leaders to come with modest cars at the National Political Council. “From the party we are, please do not come to today's meeting with luxury cars, come by taxi or Uber”

The episode took place after the SNOOOOop investigative site discovered that PSD deputy Adrian Căciu, former Minister of Finance, came to negotiations for the country's austerity budget with a 100,000 euro Mercedes, which does not appear in his declaration of wealth. Initially, he said the car was borrowed. The journalists insisted and Căciu changed the explanation for the third time.
- Today is the last day when you can support the independent investigation work of the editorial of Snoop, redirecting up to 20% of the value of the profit tax or income that your company has already paid for 2024. You can do it here.
A phone called before an important session. In a kind tone, the man who made the call is presented. Then, politely, he makes the following recommendation: “We are from the party, please do not come to today's meeting with expensive or luxury cars, come by taxi or Uber.”
The phone was given to the leaders who gathered a few days ago in the National Political Council to decide the political strategy. Enter or not to government? Several social-democratic leaders, who discussed with Hotnews under the condition of confidentiality, considering the delicate subject, confirmed that they received the call and that this was the content.
The phone and the request to appear in a modest road formula came after SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOP.ro investigative site exposed how the former Finance Minister Adrian Căciu appeared in the party explained with a Mercedes GLE 450 that does not appear in the declaration of wealth. It is not a “luxury car,” Căciu said. The politician stated that the car is borrowed.
This happened on June 10. It's been two weeks.

The three successive explanations
Adrian Căciu, former Minister of Finance and European projects, could not offer, all this time, a unitary explanation: is the car he uses borrowed? Snoop discovered that the car is on the company of the former wife.
Within a few days, in connection with the car, there is a new explanation:
Variant 1: “The car is rented”. (Câciu statement)
Variant 2: “The car is borrowed” (statement of the former wife).
Variant 3: “There is a contract of convenience, a power of attorney”. (Variant Căciu, on June 23, at B1TV).
Căciu cried to the party
As one of the politicians surprised with a valuable good, which does not appear among those acquired from explicit revenues, Adrian Căciu has developed a theory of conspiracy.
In front of the bosses he blames the press to chop it. He said publicly that “he understood the signals received.”
The construction “we have changed, the world has changed/ Mercedes Gle is not a luxury car” devours a new wave of the impetuosity of Romanian politicians.
Another story, during the negotiations from the Cotroceni Palace, negotiations to which PSD was represented by Adrian Căciu, reveals that when he discussed the elimination of some tax exemptions, the PSD leader expressed in the revolt register:
“Some tricks buy their car through the company, but they use it in personal interest,” said Căciu, according to several sources participating in technical discussions.
The deputy was deeply worried about the “noise with luxury cars.”
Fixed in those days, Căciu was traveling to Cotroceni with the luxury car taken from the company of his wife. The wife who was employed at the Financial Supervisory Authority during the period when the ex -husband became Minister of Finance.
Hospitals are waiting
On June 19, journalist Costi Mocanu presents on his Facebook page another episode that defines the situation.
“I am impressed by the thug and nonchalance with which Mr. Căciu speaks, PSD member … less than a year ago (sure before elections), without blinking, the citizen told us in a show at First News, with great safety and a few times, that in 2026 in Romania, a few tens of hospitals will be used! And, together with your colleagues, you took Romania close to bankruptcy with the Mercedes Gle 450 100,000 euros speed that you received from good people. “
And what PSD did is illustrative. The same party that declared himself shaken after the November – December elections, left Căciu to continue to communicate on behalf of the party. To offer solidarity lessons, about economics and political conspiracies.
On June 24, the PSD deputy said to Snoop that he does not offer any answer on this topic.
A political-media product of Marcel Ciolacu, Cristian Socol and Bogdan Popescu, Adrian Căciu was moved from a public position to another, from the Ministry of Agriculture, to the Ministry of Finance and that of European projects.
Discussions about PSD in opposition or power are a formalism. The PSD is simply “here”, beyond any government, and the cases of Căciu, Busuioc (and he fled the press), Stanescu and Marcu are the test of everyday immunity, the only one that matters.
