Andrei Şoșa, the owner of the club “Expired”, was issued from the preventive arrest, after the Bucharest Court of Appeal admitted the appeal made by his lawyer. The court has replaced the measure of preventive arrest with judicial control, informs Bucharest Bulletin.

“The appeal was admitted. The Court of Appeal, re -judging the arrest proposal, rejected it and ordered the measure of judicial control. Andrei was released immediately,” Vlad Hossu lawyer told Bucharest.

The owner of the “Expired” club in Bucharest was detained on June 17 by DIICOT prosecutors for internal and international drug trafficking.

Andrei Şoșa is accused that, in May 2025, he purchased from the United Kingdom “300 tablets containing as an active substance Zolpidem (risk drug), intended for marketing, which he would have introduced in the country, through a postal and courier service company”, according to a statement of the Romanian Police.

Also, Monday, June 16, investigators found in its car another 10 tablets, with the same active substance.

At the Perchisms made by the police at his home in Ilfov, the investigators found hundreds of pills in the same category, as well as gold ingots and significant amounts of money in lei and euros.

Message behind bars

The owner of the club “Expired” yesterday sent a message behind the bars in which he claims that he arrived in this situation because he purchased “sleeping pills”, being “dependent” on them.

“I am sick or am I offender? As you know, I am in prison. In fact, it is called a detention and preventive arrest center, but it is also prison. I am already on the eighth day. I am preventively arrested because I have bought sleeping pills from a site in England. For about 5 years I am addicted to them. Andrei Şoșa, whom he says published his wife, after transmitting him through the lawyer.

Andrei Şoșa says that “the lifestyle of a jail is difficult.”

“Very much stress, night work, you are practically on a different time than the normal world. From such fertile soil, it was impossible not to rise. It is a disease. During the pandemic period, I asked for medical support and so I discovered Zolpidem, the medicine that was legally prescribed by a doctor.

He claims that he “returned to insomnia” when he finished treatment, but did not take the doctor.

“A mistake that costs me. The time passed and I was looking for alternative solutions, so I found a site from England, who sold Zolpidem free. I ordered without thinking for a moment that I was doing something illegal. It is the first time in my life when I deal with the Criminal Code. In fact, the lawyer tells me that I am not from the Criminal Code. Considered to be in the same category with drugs, ”added Andrei Şoșa.
