The Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu, at the NATO summit: “We support the increase of investments in defense”

Romania remains “firm” employed against collective defense and transatlantic cohesion, said Defense Minister Ionuţ Mărianu, at an event organized in the Marja of the NATO summit in The Hague, reports the Ministry of Defense on Wednesday in a statement.
Moist participated in a work dinner on Tuesday, hosted by the Minister of Defense in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, along with counterparts in the Allied states.
“The topics addressed in the ministerial discussions” targeted strategic topics essential for the future of the Alliance “.
“NATO crosses a structural change, which has as central elements a credible defense and discouragement position, centered on a modern command and control architecture, forces capable of acting at the multidomic level, as well as an advanced capacity for force and logistical support,” according to the MAPN statement.
The defense ministers discussed the commitments made within NATO, the new investment plan for defense – aimed at reaching a level of 5% of GDP by 2035, as well as measures to generate the necessary forces and capabilities to an efficient allied discouragement and defense position.
In this context, aspects regarding the consolidation of the European defense industry and the main security developments with direct impact on the stability of the Euroatlantic space were also included.
On this occasion, the Romanian Minister of Defense reaffirmed the firm commitment of Romania to the collective defense and the transatlantic cohesion, says MAPN.
“Romania remains a trusted ally, deeply employed in strengthening the post of defense and discouragement of NATO. We support the increase of investments in defense, as an expression of our responsibility towards the Euro -Atlantic security. At the same time, we make sustained efforts to fulfill the capabilities targets and to strengthen the national defense industry,” said Ioăanu.
