The head of the American intelligence hired a former spy in an important position

Former intelligence official Nicholas Kass will take the position of the Chairman of the National Intelligence Council (nothing), which has recently been accused of politicization by both Democrats and Republicans.
Although the National Intelligence Council has long been proud of independence from politics, in recent months it has found itself at the Center for political struggle. Kassa's appointment may not be enough to alleviate her.
Last month, Gabbard met with criticism from the Democrats when she removed the two highest -ranking officials, nothing soon after this agency published a secret rating, which seemed to be undermined by one of the pillars of Trump's hard immigration policy.
Gabbard then moved nothing from the CIA to the office of the National Intelligence Director to better deal with accusations of politicization, and introduced a more stringent process of controlling his work, according to the media.
“Leftist prejudices”
Trump administration officials and many republican national security officials claim that American intelligence services are filled with leftist prejudices and require reform.
They probably see two key advantages in Kassa: Extensive experience in the American intelligence services and readiness to undermine the current status quo.
Kass wrote several opinion -forming articles and social media posts in which he expressed deep skepticism towards democrats and great admiration for Trump. In a post published in November 2024 on X, which Kassa placed on his website, he called the “epic” victory of Trump in the 2024 election. “A complete public rejection of a deep state [ang. deep state, państwa w państwie, czyli rządzących, którzy w rzeczywistości pociągają za sznurki] and his authoritarianism, activities, puppets and supporters, ideological grievances and other manifestations. “
The Office of the National Intelligence Director (Noni) refused to comment on this matter. However, the clerk released that Kass stood out during his 30-year career in intelligence services. He is an expert for Russia, the Middle East and Europe. According to his profile, LinkedIn held high analytical positions in the National Security Council, nothing, CIA and the Department of State.
It was not clear whether Kass was taken into account as the permanent head of the office. The position of the chairman does not require the Senate approval.
The fears of nothing increased in April this year, after Washington Post informed that the government of Nicolas Maduro did not manage the invasion of the Venezuelan criminal gang on the territory of the United States. This idea served as a key legal justification for the Trump administration policy consisting in the deportation of suspicious gang members without conducting a proper lawsuit.
Later, e-mails leaked to the press suggesting that the chief of staff Gabbard, Joe Kent, even pressed nothing to change their analysis on officials, which even disturbed the Democrats.
Controversial personal decisions
The representatives said that it was the then chairman of nothing Michael Collins and his deputy Maria Langan-Riekhof were biased. They also revealed more details of e-mail correspondence between Kent and Collins to confirm that Kent's pressure did not exceed any boundaries.
Although Kassa brings extensive government experience to this work, he does not seem to have a lot of experience in two national security issues, which according to Trump's officials are to be a priority: regarding China and international organized crime.
Gabbard, who has recently had tense relations with Trump, has controversial personal decisions. At the beginning of this year, she had to withdraw her candidate for a high position in an interview because of Israel's prior criticism.
