The leader of the extreme Dutch right Geert Wilders thanks to US President Donald Trump on Wednesday for their meeting, which he qualified as “excellent”, in the Marja of the NATO Summit in The Hague, AFP, taken by Agerpres.

“Thank you very much Mr. President Donald Trump for the excellent meeting I just had and our discussion about the need for stricter immigration!” Wilders wrote on the X Social Network, posting a photo with the US president, both smiling.

For his part, Donald Trump told the press that he “was not disturbed” by Geert Wilders' anti-Islam positions.

“It's just a point of view. He doesn't agree with the way things are happening in this country,” Trump added.

At the beginning of June, Wilders caused the fall of a fragile government coalition consisting of four parties, against the backdrop of disagreements on immigration.

New elections are provided to take place on October 29, and the far-right leader would like to reissue his surprising success of November 2023, when his party, PVV, ranked first.

But Geert Wilders' chances of becoming prime minister in the Netherlands have reduced considerably after a key party for a potential coalition excluded any new collaboration with him, qualifying him as a “incredibly reliable partner.”
