US President Donald Trump met in the White House Crisis Chamber on Monday night, together with the President of the General Staff, General Dan Caine, and the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, after Iran launched missiles on the US military base in Qatar, according to Reuters and The Guardian.

“The White House and the Defense Department are aware of the possible threats to the Udeid base in Qatar and monitor them closely,” said a high -ranking official from the American administration.

According to Reuters, the attack took place at about the same time as President Donald Trump was to have a meeting with his team on American bombings on some nuclear installations in Iran.

Trump visited the US military base last month, attacked by Iran. The US president addressed the US military and in May during a visit to the region.

In the speech spoken in front of the American troops at the base, Trump said that “my priority is to end conflicts, not to start them.”

“But I will never hesitate to use American power, if necessary, to defend the United States or our partners. And here we have one of our great partners,” referring to Qatar. “When we are threatened, the American army will respond to enemies without thinking. We have overwhelming force and a power of devastating destruction,” Trump continued.

The Trump administration would have been informed in advance about Iran's attack on the Al-Dudeid base in Qatar, according to Axios.

Trump is about to fly to The Hague on Tuesday to participate in NATO annual summit.
