Officials from Ukraine and Poland have announced that Polish protesters are again blocking one of the main border crossing points between the two countries, on Monday, two years after the massive protests of 2023, who disrupted the transport routes, reports Reuters.
Both the Ukrainian border authorities in a press release and the spokesman for the Polish Local Police said that the protest from the Yahodyn-Dorohusk border crossing point has started after lunch and that a vehicle can pass through every hour.
The police spokesman mentioned that military and humanitarian aid is allowed to pass free.
The protest could take up to four months, according to officials, Kyiv Post also reports.
The Ukrainian border service recommended that the drivers take into account that there may be delays if they intend to go through the Yahodin customs.
It is not the first protest of this kind. After the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, farmers and Polish carriers organized at least three border blockages, protesting from what they consider to be an unfair Ukrainian competition.
In May 2023, Polish carriers blocked the Yahodyn-Dorohusk border crossing point for more than two weeks. From November 2023 until January 2024, the protests expanded in several customs, such as Hrebenne, Korczowa and later Medyka.
Between February and April 2024, the Polish protesters blocked the transit of goods in several customs from the border with Ukraine, asking for the Warsaw government to withdraw from Green Deal and to stop the import of Ukrainian products.
