For his part, the Ministry of Defense added: “Due to God, the vigilance of the armed forces and the precautionary measures taken, the incident did not cause victims or injured.”

The air space and the territory of the country are “safe”, the ministry said.

Iran has started an operation against an American Qatar base, Iranian state television said, CNN and BBC News write.

According to Tehran authorities, the number of missiles drawn to the Qatar base is equal to that of the bombs used by the US in attacks on nuclear facilities. The military operation was called “Victoria's News”, Iranian news agencies announced.

The body of the Islamic revolutionary guards transmitted in a statement that it was a “powerful and destructive missile attack” on the Udeid base, the largest American base in the Middle East, where over 10,000 American soldiers are stationed.

The base was visited last month by President Donald Trump, who was the first supreme American commander who paid a visit there since 2003.

Iran also targeted Ain Al-Asad air base in Iraq, where anti-aircraft systems were also activated, according to military sources quoted by Reuters.
