Four -day work week after June 30. Who can use in Poland?

Six -hour work day, three -day weekend or additional vacation days? The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy (MRPiPS) has announced a pilot program that has a chance to revolutionize the labor market in Poland. Recruitment for pilot will start after June 30, 2025.
-This will be the first pilot of the shortened working time in this part of Europe-emphasizes the minister of work Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk. The program is directed to a wide range of entities, including entrepreneurs, local government units, foundations and trade unions. PLN 10 million from the Labor Fund was allocated to its implementation.
The pilot will last from 15 to 18 months, and its effects will be monitored by a specially appointed team. The initiative is to be voluntary and bottom -up, which – according to the ministry – will allow better adaptation to the needs of participants.
Short working time. Benefits for employees and employers
The shortening of working time is to bring mutual benefits. Employees can count on improving mental and physical health, and spend more time on private life. In turn, employers can gain more effective and creative teams.
– A shortened working time does not negatively affect the financial results of enterprises – argues the ministry, citing experience from other countries.
Short working time. Response to demographic challenges
One of the main goals of the program is counteracting the effects of the demographic crisis. The labor department hopes that shorter working time will encourage Poles to start families and extend their professional activity.
– I hope that we will be able to present specific legislative changes in this term – declares Deputy Minister Sebastian Gajewski.
Work four days a week. Poland joins the leaders of the change
Poland has a chance to join countries such as France, Belgium or Denmark that have already introduced a shorter work week. If the pilot is successful, it can become the beginning of lasting changes on the Polish labor market.
