What is worth knowing before fifty? Eight lessons for a better life and health

Today, some things are obvious to me, but ten years ago they were not at all. If I were aware of them, perhaps some lessons that I received from life would not be so painful.
Once or twice, I decided to ask the doctor to advise me something on my constant digestive problems. However, the proposed solutions were troublesome and time -consuming, so I gave up. It ended up that I was getting worse, and finally I was recently diagnosed with gluten intolerance, which I probably struggled with since my childhood.
I feel much better since I use a diet. It could have been like that for many years, but I neglected this matter. And health should be the most important.
2. You must always be confident
I have the feeling that I haven't used my full potential. I sat on my laurels because I underestimated my abilities. I recently realized that I want to climb even higher, that I am the best person who can do it and I will pursue my goal. And I could do it many years ago.
3. You should measure high and allow yourself to fall
10 years ago I was afraid that it may turn out that I was not good enough to write professionally. It ended only recently when I allowed myself that something might fail. I was ready to seriously write. But I would like to turn back time and risk much earlier. I wasted a lot of time on a “stable” work that did not allow me to fully sacrifice myself and did not make me happy.
4. Holidays are necessary
For many years I took vacation only to visit family members or traveled for business purposes. Recently, I was on the first, many years of real holidays – I chose a beautiful place, I did not take anything that would be related to work, I did not take my family. It was great.

5. We will probably never be rich, you should save
Many of us think that someday they will be able to do everything they dream of, but they do not wonder where they will get from it. If we do not start saving, we will not be able to realize these dreams to death.
I regret that I didn't start saving many years agobut I'm glad that I decided to do it at all. Better late than never.
6. At least once you need to do something that you are hopeless
I focused on language -related classes all the time. I avoided history, biology, etc. And these classes could enrich my knowledge.
I currently decided do things that don't come easy for me. I bought an accordion and I learn to play it. I am terrible in this, but it's great fun (for me, not necessarily for my neighbors).
7. Once in a while, you should do a favor, even if you don't feel like it
I am not always inclined to look after others. However, when my mother -in -law died of cancer, I dealt with it and it was a great, though painful experience. I saw that I was able to do things I didn't suspect. And I spent valuable time with someone I loved.
8. It is worth saying “yes” more often than “no”
I am an introvert, so I often responded to “no” to meetings. However, loneliness and evenings spent in front of the TV at home did not serve me at all. I often regretted that I refused. I do not regret any opportunity when I said “yes”. I pulled the lesson out of it.
