The day after their ignominious Champions League play-off exit, Inter resumed their preparations to focus on domestic goals. Cristi Chivu summoned the losers of Bodo/Glimt (1-2, after 1-3 in the round) with whom he had a dialogue “with a soft verbal rhythm”, as Sky Sport reveals.

Inter left the Champions League through the back door, after their fifth failure in the last six games in this competition and one of the worst performances in the “double” against Bodo/Glimt. Less than 12 hours after the Nerazzurri upset, the Serie A leaders reunited at the Appiano Gentile training base.

Cristi Chivu returned to worries about the championship and the upcoming duel with Genoa on Giuseppe Meazza, calling the players for a recovery session. Andrea Paventi, Skysport correspondent at Appiano Gentile, found out what the atmosphere was like in the Nerazzurri training camp.

Calhanoglu is uncertain for Genoa. Lautaro, out for the derby

“Even the verbal rhythms of the training were a bit calmer. It was a recovery session, in which some starters used with Bodo/Glimt, like Pio Esposito, took part, while others had a normal session on the pitch. Now it's time to focus on Serie A, to keep a good atmosphere and take advantage of the lead,” explained the journalist.

The same source also revealed the situation of Hakan Calhanoglu, one of the big absentees from Tuesday evening: “We will have to see how he shows up in training today and tomorrow and if he can be available again at least for the match against Genoa.

He made some progress, followed a small setback, and in the last few days he did not work normally with the rest of the group. With Chivu, at least three training sessions with his teammates are required before he is summoned.

He may not have time to be fit for the match against Genoa, but the next two training sessions are important. As for Lautaro, we will discuss him only after the derby”. Speaking of the match with Milan, given that Inter will no longer play in the Champions League, it will almost certainly take place on Sunday, March 8, at 9:45 p.m.
