The Pakistani government nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for the role he played in the de -lens of tensions in the conflict between Pakistan and India – the AFP agency said on Saturday, reminding that according to the government in New Delhi USA they did not participate in mediation.

“The Pakistan government decided to formally recommend President Donald J. Trump to the Nobel Peace Prize for 2026, in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and leadership during the recent Indian -Sactstan crisis,” said the authorities on Friday on Friday.
On May 6-10, the conflict between neighboring countries escalated and took over the Kashmir region controlled by Pakistan. The inflammatory point became a terrorist attack in the city of Pahalgam, in the Indian part of Kashmir, of April 22, 2025, in which 26 people were killed. According to the arrangements of the Indian side, the fighters stood by the coup, opposing India's control over the disputed territory. On May 6, India conducted a series of attacks for Pakistani as part of the Sindoor operation, and Islamabad replied retaliation. It is estimated that about 50 people were killed on both sides of the conflict.
The President of the USA was the first to inform about the entry into force of the Pakistani-Indian suspension of weapons on May 10. Then the authorities of both countries confirmed this message. Trump described on the social platform that this decision was made after “long night negotiations organized by the US”. The Prime Minister of India Narenda Modi repeatedly denied that such conversations occurred.
Trump himself claims that he is behind many peace agreements or that his political activity has contributed to maintaining good relations between different countries. As he said, he should already win 4-5-room Nobel Prizes. In his opinion, he deserves, among others for the currently negotiated peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. He also claimed that he led to the end of the conflict between Serbia and Kosovo. Trump repeatedly expressed the frustration that he did not have a Nobel Peace Prize, expressing jealousy of President Barack Obama, who was awarded in 2009.
AFP pointed out that Pakistan, who avoided an economic collapse in 2023, thanks to a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), appeals to foreign capital, primarily to the USA, to invest in the extraction of mineral raw materials. The head of the Pakistani army Asim Munir during Wednesday's meeting with Trump, proposed “mutually favorable partnership”, adding that Pakistan has to offer, among others Minerals and crypotwalutes.
