After US President Donald Trump announced the declassification of UFO information (UAP), the US Department of Defense launched a large-scale program to release government archives about unknown anomalous phenomena. The GORDON publication found out what exactly the first files hide, what secrets the Apollo missions keep, and also why Ukrainian intelligence officially collects evidence of unknown flying objects.
The Pentagon published the first large batch – 158 files – on May 8. We are talking about military reports, intelligence documents, photos, videos and evidence related to observations of unknown objects in the air. As part of this initiative, a special portal was created, and in the first day of its operation alone, the site received almost 500 million visits, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said on social network X.
CNN reported that among the most interesting things in the declassified Pentagon files are the FBI's extensive archive (hundreds of pages) of eyewitness accounts and public reports of UFOs from 1947 to 1968, as well as contemporary military reports of unknown objects near areas of operations in Iraq, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Greece. The materials include infrared and sensory recordings of unknown aerial phenomena, including one over the western United States in 2025, as well as archives of the Apollo missions, where astronauts recorded strange light phenomena near the Moon – flashes and bright objects, also captured in the photo as points of light above the lunar surface.
Also released were videos and images from military aircraft of fast, unknown objects near aircraft, infrared recordings of strange glowing or changing shapes in the air, as well as footage of a round object being visible in the targeting system in the sights. All of this material is presented as observations and sensor data with no definitive explanation of origin.
Cases without a definitive explanation
The Pentagon has not officially confirmed that these are aliens. The department emphasized that the published materials relate to unsolved cases that do not have a final explanation due to a lack of data and do not contain evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial life or technology. In general, the US military called this an unprecedented interdepartmental operation, in which the Pentagon, intelligence, NASA, FBI and other structures participate, and declassification will occur gradually – new files will be published regularly.
The second batch of files will be “explosive”
The Daily Mail wrote on May 18 that the Trump administration is preparing a new, second wave of declassification of UFO materials. The Pentagon said the files are already “actively being processed” and could be released “very soon.”
Politicians and proponents of declassification are hinting that the previous package is just a “drop in the ocean” and truly sensitive materials have not yet been made public. Some congressmen have said outright that future files could be more “explosive.”
Trump and space war
The situation was fueled by the fact that Trump published a photo generated by artificial intelligence. It shows the head of the White House standing next to an arrested alien at a US military base. This caused a great resonance in social networks and further fueled interest in the topic, the media write.
Disappearance of a General Linked to Secret UFO Programs
In March, retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. William Neal McCasland was reported missing after more than a week of searching after he left his home in New Mexico in late February. The search then involved the FBI, police and rescue services using drones and helicopters.
McCasland is a former high-ranking military officer who worked on the Pentagon's GPS programs and space projects. He also headed the US Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which is often associated with conspiracy rumors about the alleged storage of extraterrestrial debris, although this has not been officially confirmed.
His disappearance attracted attention due to its timing with UFO discussions in the United States, but investigations have not confirmed any connection.
In Ukraine, “UFOs” are being monitored
Against the backdrop of Trump’s announcement about the declassification of files allegedly related to aliens, Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Sergei Beskrestnov (Flash) recalled how in 2023 Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance observed an unknown flying object, which was later contacted by representatives of a government structure that has been dealing with similar issues since Soviet times.
He also noted that with the beginning of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the study of such phenomena in Ukraine allegedly acquired a more military character, since unknown objects could be behind new types of enemy weapons. According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have internal documents on recording such cases.
“If you have witnessed a UFO and you have video materials, please send them to uap(no spam) gur.gov.ua. Your observations may turn out to be very important,” Beskrestnov urged.
