Estonia is protecting against Russia: the construction of anti-tanc and bunkers began along the border
Estonia started, this week, to build anti -tank trenches on the border with the Russian Federation. It is the first work in a series of defensive measures that Tallinn is planning within the project Baltic Defense line.

Also, in the autumn, the construction of a bunker network will begin.

Estonia has a common border with Russia, over 300 kilometers. The planned anti-tank installment will be built just a few meters from the Estonia-Russia control line.
“In order for the anti -tank trench to be as efficient as possible, it must meet certain specifications: it should have a four -meter width, with inclined sides (…) and a depth of two to two and a half meters.”, Explained Lieutenant-Colonel Ainar Ainaasjev, commander of the unity of geniuses of the Estonian armed forces.
What happens if a tank falls in such a tranche?

According to him, Estonians will build about four kilometers of these trenches this year. In total, the Baltic country will build 40 kilometers of trenches in the southeast of the country, within the project.
Dig with the role of alarm system and 600 bunkers
In addition to the trenches, the construction of a dam intended to slow down the military equipment coming from the east, but will also have the role of alarm system: “If someone comes through the tall grass, you may not notice. But if you try to jump over this terrace, you can see that movement from miles away”, Estonian officials explained.
In addition to the construction of anti -Tanc trenches, the Estonian Center for Defense Investments (RKIK) will also start installing this year, as part of the Baltic Defense line, near the east border.

The Baltic Defense line is a common project of all three Baltic countries: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. And the other two countries began the construction of bunkers and anti -tanks on their borders with Russia.
