Pakistan: The attacks were precisely aimed against the enemies

Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the armed forces carried out “selective intelligence-based operations” against seven camps of the Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), as well as related groups. He added that the target was also one of the Islamic State factions operating in the border region.

Tarar noted that Pakistan “has always strived to maintain peace and stability in the region,” but “the security of its citizens remains a priority.” He also recalled that similar raids took place in October 2025, when the Pakistani air force attacked militant hideouts in Afghanistan.

Tension between countries after a series of violent incidents

The escalation occurred a few days after a suicide attack in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, where the attacker drove a vehicle full of explosives into the wall of a security post. Eleven soldiers and one child died as a result of the explosion. Pakistani authorities said the perpetrator was an Afghan national.

Another attack occurred in the city of Bannu, where a bomb planted in a rickshaw exploded near a police station. As a result of this incident, two civilians were killed and 17 were injured. After this wave of violence Pakistan's army has announced that it has “no intention of holding back” and operations against perpetrators will continue “regardless of their location.”

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have remained tense since October 2025, when Dozens of people died as a result of clashes on the border. The violence broke out after explosions in Kabul, for which Afghan authorities blamed Pakistan.
