Cities and localities in eastern Germany invite people to come and live there, in the hope that some will settle permanently, to counteract depopulation, writes Deutsche Welle.

The population of the city of Guben, on the Polish-German border, almost halved since the reunification of Germany in 1990. Anika Franze, 38 years old, is at her office in the center of this small city and says: “You have no problem finding an accessible dwelling, there are no troughs, there are no difficulty.”
