5.1 degrees earthquake in Iran. What strategic installations are near the epicenter

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale rocked the northern Iran on Friday evening, in full war between the Islamic Republic and Israel, AFP announces.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of only 10 kilometers, according to data broadcast by the US Geological Institute.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 36 km southwest by the city of Signan in the north of the country, according to USGS. The earthquake occurred at 21:19 (20:49 in Romania).

The earthquake was felt in the capital Tehran and in the nearby cities Karaj and Damavand, as well as in Qom, in the center of Iran, according to state television.

The earthquake occurred near Sorkheh, a city in the province of Signan, located about 150 kilometers from Tehran.

No victims have been reported, and the material damage is minimal, the IRNA news agency said.

The international press mentions that Signan hosts key strategic installations, including the Signan Rocket Complex, administered by the Iranian army, and the Signan Space Center.

The Iranian press agency Tasnim communicated an earthquake magnitude of 5.2.
