“Turning point” on Ukraine? Trump's envoy is to meet Lukashenko

The envoy would meet with Aleksander Lukashenko, the president of Belarus, to discuss the potential of peace dialogue. According to four independent sources, cited both by Reuters and the Ukrainian Unian agency, Kellogg's plan assumes the unofficial nature of the conversations. The main goal would be to attempt to overcome the deadlock for several months in terms of ending hostilities in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, according to Polsat News, the details of the visit program are shrouded in mystery. However, unofficial information shows that Kellogg considers his mission as a chance for a “turning point” in the peace process. In the lobby he was to express the hope that his journey could become a step towards resolving the conflict, which since February 2022 was consumed by the lives of thousands of people and destabilizes the region.
American representatives in Belarus
If the visit actually reaches, Keith Kellogg will be the highest -ranking American representative who will visit the capital of Belarus from the moment Mike Pompeo's visit in February 2020. Then the US Secretary of State tried to improve relationships with Lukashenko as part of a strategy to weaken his dependence on the Kremlin.
However, the Pompeo mission ended in failure. In subsequent years, Belarus tightened its ties with Moscow even more, among others, providing its territory to conduct a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
