Third way closed or only under renovation? Hołownia: Time to determine your own identity

Speaker of the Sejm, Polish leader 2050 Szymon Hołownia believes that the end of the third road is time to build his own electorates, establishing their own identity and values for both groups. PSL and Poland 2050 part with friendship and with respect, and the end of cooperation is not definitive – he added.

The third road, the coalition of the Polish People's Party and Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia was established before the parliamentary elections in 2023. Hołownia on Wednesday in the Sejm asked about the end of the coalition between Poland 2050 and PSL, he said that for both groups it is time “to build their own electorates” and to determine “where we are, where we are going”.
He admitted that the information about the end of the third road project was not provided in an appropriate manner. He emphasized that originally he, along with the PSL leader Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, was to provide this information “a little later” at a joint press conference. However, he added – “someone decided to go ahead and provide this information earlier.
It was Hołownia on Tuesday evening that the PSL Supreme Council made the decision “about the actual completion of the third way project”.
“The decision of the Supreme Council of our PSL coalition partner on the actual end of the third road project, we accept with understanding and gratitude. Understanding, because we arranged a series of four elections. Gratitude, because we met mutual obligations on both sides, and loyalty and trust is a fundamental thing in politics” – wrote Hołownia on X.
Kosiniak: It was supposed to be a little different
On Wednesday, Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized on Radio Zet that he had been talking to Szymon Hołownia for a long time like this final (third way). “It was supposed to be a little different, I will say honestly. We had a discussion yesterday, 28 (June) has a discussion at the National Council of Poland 2050. After that we were supposed to go out together and say that this stage is closed ” – noted the president of PSL.
According to Hołownia, the situation regarding the third road is sometimes for both groups to build and develop their own values and identity identities, but this is not the definitive end of cooperation between PSL and Polish 2050. He emphasized that the PSL and Poland 2050 roads diverge “as a political alliance”, but they do not spread when it comes to values and mutual respect for themselves.
The Marshal of the Sejm reminded that the groups arranged for cooperation within four elections (parliamentary, local government, European and presidential). He added that the end of cooperation at this moment is a natural thing that takes place in friendly conditions, as the contract has been completed.
“Jit is a friendly parting, with respect And also a kind of obvious. We agreed not for eternity, but for four elections. The last of these four has just ended, so it can be said that this election tactical alliance has expired in a natural way, “he noted.
Hołownia emphasized that the relationships between the groups were not always easy and there are obvious differences between “We and PSL we differ in many issues, we not only agree. The alliance was tactical, but he was often an alliance of common interests and values, and sometimes he was not, because it is in politics” – he emphasized. However, he added – this is not the final end of cooperation between the groups and there is a possibility that they will go to the parliamentary elections in 2027, if there is such a will on both sides.
“If in 2027 we decide that we want to go to the election once again, then we are certainly open on our part, because we really want to cooperate well with PSL today,” said Hołownia.
He estimated that Poland 2050 and PSL will support each other both in work in the government and in coalition talks, because the paths of PSL and Poland 2050 divide “as a political alliance”, but they do not diverge when it comes to values and respect to each other – he added.
He also noted that, despite the end of cooperation within the third way, he has great gratitude and respect for his friends from PSL, for what they have gone together as a coalition, despite the program differences between groups. “We were an election alliance, and we often ran away. However, I want to say very clearly and clearly that we fulfilled our obligations on both sides and that these are our closest partners on the political scene,” said the Speaker of the Sejm.
At the same time, he noted that with the deputy prime minister and leader of PSL Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, he is connected by a unique relationship. In his opinion, this also indicates that they will do many things together in politics. “We will do many things in politics together,” he assured.
Hołownia asked if there is a non -aggression pact between the groups, he replied that “he was never even thinking about it.” He added that “are our allies, they are our friends with whom we went a long way and we have to them, I have only positive emotions to them.” (PAP)
