Retail chains reward employees for their Christmas efforts

Large stores enter the holiday season not only with full shelves, but also with gifts for their employees. Gift packages, discount vouchers, bonuses and prepaid card top-ups – these are some of them. We checked what people employed in popular retail chains can count on for Christmas.

The holiday season is a time of intense work for stores, but also a moment when many of them try to appreciate the efforts of their employees. Bonuses in the form of cash bonuses, shopping vouchers or gift packages have become a permanent element of motivational policy in this industry.

Discount coupons and packages for children

This year, Lidl employees can count on, among others: for shopping discount coupons.

– In December, which is a particularly busy month for the retail industry, we will invite our employees to take part in the next edition of the great promotional campaign of the Lidl Plus application, in which they will receive discount coupons with a total value of PLN 1,200 for shopping in our stores – says Aleksandra Robaszkiewicz, director of Corporate Affairs and CSR at Lidl Polska, to Bankier.pl. – The promotion is addressed to employees and associates, as well as people employed by certain contractors. The aim of the campaign is to reach the widest possible group of users with the application. Moreover, in 2025 on the occasion of Christmas we will prepare a total of over 22,000 packages for the youngest, i.e. all employees' children up to 13 years of age. Packages will vary depending on the age of the children.

Gifts from employees and their children

In turn, Biedronka allocated a record amount this year for Christmas benefits for employees and their families – nearly PLN 120 million. For packages and Christmas parties planning spend about PLN 65 million, a
for employee e-codes, with which they can pay for purchases in this chain, Biedronka Home or Hebe – PLN 55 million. Their value will varydepending on the income threshold and will range from PLN 610 to PLN 670.

A total of 171.6 thousand will be prepared. parcels, including 88.5 thousand for employees and 83.1 thousand for their children in four age groups.

– Christmas packages are the apple of our eye. We want them to bring the magic of Christmas and joy to the homes of our employees. We want both adults and children to like them, says Agnieszka Sokołowska, director of internal communication and support programs at the Biedronka chain.

A gift includes a fryer and a cookbook

Employees will find a Tefal fat-free fryer, a recipe book and a set of Biedronka Premium sweets in their packages. The youngest children up to 2 years old will receive a plush Benny Rabbit projector, 4 sets of puzzles in a suitcase, Noah's Ark supporting speech development, as well as stickers and washable tattoos. Preschoolers aged 3-6 will receive a MagicJinn animals toy, a “Chicken Race” game, magnetic blocks, a “Teddy Bear Family” puzzle and a creative kit with clay.

Older children in the 7-10 age group will receive the “Labyrinth Challenge” set, which allows them to practice dexterity and discover the basic principles of electrical circuits, the “Acrobats” arcade game, educational puzzles with a world map and the solar system, a 3D pen, stickers and puzzles, and a practical water bottle.

For teenagers (11-18 years old), the company has prepared a portable projector, a three-dimensional model of the Eiffel Tower with LED lighting, the Zero card game, a water bottle and a bag/backpack with reflectors. Christmas parcels will be delivered to Biedronka employees and their children in early December.

In addition to the packages, the Christmas package is also planned funds for Christmas and New Year partieswhich each team can organize according to their own preferences within the budget allocated specifically for this purpose. Biedronka employees will have until the end of February to collectively celebrate the Christmas atmosphere.

Additional 1 thousand PLN for Christmas

In turn, ALDI will allocate approximately PLN 5 million for Christmas benefits for its staffi.e. nearly 40 percent. more than a year ago. For the next year in a row, it will pay its employees a Christmas bonus and a bonus for no absence during the holiday period. Each operational employee can receive an additional PLN 1,000. PLN gross.

This year, employees of sales, warehouse and administration departments will receive additional financial support in the form of a Christmas top-up of prepaid cards worth PLN 350.. Additionally, people employed in stores and distribution centers will receive a bonus of PLN 650 for no absenteeism in the new year. This is intended to be an expression of the employer's appreciation for their commitment and presence at work during one of the hottest periods of the year. Christmas benefits in the ALDI chain are paid without any income threshold.

– As in previous years, this year we decided to give our employees Christmas bonuses to express our appreciation for their everyday work – says Anna Goleniowska, director of the People & Culture area of ​​ALDI Polska. – It should be emphasized that Christmas bonuses are not the end of the good information we have prepared for our teams at the end of the year – announces a representative of the network.
