Archaeologists finish excavations at the construction site of the Surikov Center in Krasnoyarsk

Archaeological surveys at the construction site of the Surikov Center in Krasnoyarsk are nearing completion. This was told in the city hall.

Until the end of June, specialists need to complete all field work on the site and send reports on research by the customer – MKU “Capital Construction Management”. Earlier, two archaeological heritage objects were previously identified on the territory: “Krasnoyarsk. The cultural layer of the city of Krasnoyarsk XVIII – beginning. XX centuries. ” and “Krasnoyarsk. Kachinskaya parking. “

“The 18th century objects are not enough here, because in those days this territory was a deep periphery of Krasnoyarsk. Basically, we found objects of the late 19th century, maybe the first years of the 20th century. For me personally, the most ancient story is the most interesting – layers related to the era of the Neolithic of Early Bronze. The exact age of the artifacts will be established later, but we can say with confidence that these objects are 5-6 thousand years. For example, we found a fragment of a ceramic vessel with a characteristic ornament, ”said Timofey Klyuchnikov, director of ANO“ Archaeological Study of Siberia ”.

Among the finds are the 1913 cabman number, the crosses, buttons, coins of 1903, elements of porcelain dishes, whole glass bottles for medicines and oils for sewing machines and other artifacts. All these items will be transferred to the Vasily Surikov museum.

“The Museum-Estate will first acquire its archaeological fund, earlier we had nothing like this. As for the filling of the future object, I will remind you that the third collection in Russia is stored in the museum itself. In addition, we plan to bring to the “Surikov-Center” the work of Vasily Ivanovich from various domestic museums, ”shared the head of the museum-estate V.I. Surikova Julia Kvashnina.

The construction of cultural space will begin this summer. Bidding has already taken place, preparations are currently underway to sign the contract. From August 1, the contractor must begin work in the territory, before this period there will be preparatory measures.

“The site is located in fairly constrained conditions, there are houses nearby. Therefore, it is important to minimize inconvenient situations for residents, including relating to the time of work. The building will be three -story, with a zero floor. Design solutions allow further the artist’s largest work in the exhibition hall, ”said the acting Head of MKU “Capital Construction Management” Alexander Paramygin.

Recall that the construction of the “Suriks-center” is necessary in 2027. The new cultural space will unite the historical estate and the modern cultural center and will become a landmark project of the 400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk.
