The promise is due to the ongoing meeting of the leaders of the Community Kingdom (Denmark with autonomous territories depending on it – Greenland and the Faroe Islands) in Farerskie Torshavn.
Frederiksen, when asked at Tuesday's press conference, of which this meeting will be remembered, she replied that from the “seriousness of the situation”. She reminded that “tensions” in foreign policy took place around Denmark, Greenland and Sheep Islands. It is no accident that in her opinion, the commander -in -chief of the Swedish armed forces Michael Hyldgaard participated in the conversations.
The diplomatic relations of Denmark and Greenland from the US have deteriorated after the claims of the American President Donald Trump towards Greenland at the beginning of the year. The White House accuses Copenhagen of neglect in the area of security in the North Atlantic.

In recent months, the government in Copenhagen has allowed to increase the competences of the Greenland and Farer authorities (Faroe Islands) in foreign policy. Copenhagen agreed to take over the presidency of the Arctic Council through Greenland. In the case of sheep islands, membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO) was allowed. The inhabitants of these islands want to be able to shape their own policy in the matter of fishing.

On Sunday, a visit to Greenland was made by French President Emmanuel Macron, who declared respect for the territorial integrity of the island and announced the influx of French capital. The French Consulate General is also to be opened in Greenland.
