The administration of US President Donald Trump considers the significant expansion of travel restrictions, possibly by banning citizens from 36 additional countries to enter the United States, an internal telegram of the State Department shows, according to Reuters.

Earlier this month, the US president signed a proclamation that prohibits the entry of citizens from 12 countries, stating that the measure is necessary to protect the United States against “foreign terrorists” and other threats to national security.

The Directive was part of a campaign to repress the immigration that Donald Trump launched this year, at the beginning of the second term, which also assumed the deportation in El Salvador of hundreds of Venezuelans suspected of being members of a band, as well as efforts to prevent the registration of some foreign students.

In an internal diplomatic telegram signed by the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, the State Department listed a dozen concerns about the countries concerned and requested corrective measures.

Washington post initially wrote about the internal document.

One of the concerns of the State Department, according to the telegram, refers to the lack of a competent or cooperative government in some of the countries mentioned to produce reliable identity documents. Another was the “questionable security” of the passport in the respective countries.

Some countries, show in the telegram, did not cooperate to facilitate the expulsion of their citizens in the United States, although the American authorities had disposed. Some countries exceeded the term of residence of American visas granted to their citizens.

Other concerns concern the involvement of the country's citizens in acts of terrorism in the United States or in anti -Semitic and anti -American activities.

In the telegram it is mentioned that not all these concerns are aimed at each country listed.

“We constantly re -evaluate the policies to ensure the safety of the Americans and to comply with our laws foreign citizens,” said a high -ranking official of the State Department, refusing to comment on specific internal deliberations and communications.

“The State Department has committed to protect our nation and its citizens by maintaining the highest national security and public security standards through our visa process,” the official added.
