MAPN announces that on Wednesday night, Russian forces launched a new drone attack on civilian objectives and port infrastructure in Ukraine, in the area of Valcov, near the river border with Romania. The population in the north of Tulcea county was alerted by RO-Alert message following these attacks.
After the attacks next to the border, two F-16 aircraft performed supervision and protection missions, and IGSU issued, shortly after midnight, RO-Alert messages for the northern population of Tulcea county.
“The radar monitoring and surveillance systems of the Ministry of National Defense have reported and monitored air targets that evolved in the Ukrainian airspace, near Tulcea County. Transmitted, at 00.11, RO-Allert messages for the population in this area.
According to the MAPN, the fighting aircraft returned to the base around 01:30.
“According to the procedures, two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, located in the Air Police Fighting Service, took off from the Borcea 86 Air Base and carried out supervision and protection missions of the Romanian air space.
MAPN forces will execute, during this day, research in the areas where risks may occur as a result of the situation last night. “Also, the allied structures are informed in real time about the situations on the border,” says MApN.
