In a joint statement, the heads of diplomacy of interested countries informed that Ben Gwir, who leads the Jewish Strength and Smotricz Nationalist Party – the leader of the religious group Zionism, are banned from entering the territory of these five countries, and their assets in financial institutions registered in these countries have been frozen.

The British Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which came out with the initiative to impose sanctions, announced that their cause is “repeated incitement to violence against the Palestinian community”.

Smotricz was accused of, among others

  • consent to the expansion of Jewish housing estates in the west bank of Jordan
  • A racist statement from last month was considered that “Gaza would be completely destroyed”.

In the case of Ben Gwira, among others

  • for words about the construction of a synagogue at the place of the Al-Aaksa Mosque in Jerusalem,
  • The statement that “there is no need to provide help to the Gaza Strip. They have enough for it.”

“Itamar Ben Gwir and Becalel Smotricz incited the extremist violence and serious violations of Palestinian human rights,” it was written in a statement. At the same time, the sanctions declared that their countries would be, among others “Pursue to immediately suspend their weapons in the Gaza Strip and immediate release of hostages who remain in the hands of Hamas.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Gideon Saar called sanctions “scandal” and announced that at the beginning of next week the government would formally react to this “unacceptable decision”.

“Great Britain has already tried to prevent us from settling the cradle of our homeland and we cannot do it again. We are determined, God wants to continue construction,” said Smotricz on Tuesday during the inauguration of a new estate near Hebron.

As a result of the war lasting over a year and a half in the Gaza Strip, the region is almost ruined, and the situation of the population remaining in it is increasingly referred to as the humanitarian disaster. In mid -May, Israel allowed the resumption of help for the population of the Gaza Zone, but the organizations that testify to it are alerting that it is far from sufficient. (PAP)
