RegioJet has denied reports that it influenced the work of journalists or politicians. “We only draw attention to cases of violation of the principles of fair competition. Such unfair behavior influences public opinion and ultimately turns against those who act against the rules,” we read in the carrier's statement.

Ah jo… A Czech “mole” on the Polish railway? Intercity notifies the prosecutor's office. ABW is investigating messages from RegioJet

According to the Czech company, which recently entered the Polish passenger rail transport market, its operations are hampered by various companies related to PKP SA – e.g. PKP Cargo accuses excessive “prolongation of the finalization of the sale of the facility, which RegioJet purchased in a transparent tender, thanks to the highest offer of over PLN 55 million”.

According to RegioJet, PKP SA also refuses to provide this company with advertising space at stations. “This refusal is both direct and (done) through advertising space management companies, which are prohibited from selling them to PKP Intercity's competitors,” the Czech carrier said.

Another allegation concerns timetables in which RegioJet connections are to be “artificially slowed down compared to PKP Intercity connections.” It also mentions “cases when PKP Intercity prohibits its employees from working for RegioJetthreatening them with immediate dismissal.”

RegioJet concluded in a statement that “considers the behavior of PKP Intercity to be unlawful and contrary to the principles of fair competition”. Therefore, the company announced that it is preparing an official complaint to the European Commission.

He is the founder, owner and managing director of RegioJet Radim Janczura. The entrepreneur is one of the most recognizable faces in Czech business. In the early 1990s, he founded the Student Agency company. The name was not accidental, because Janczura was then studying at the Technical University in Brno, and his company initially dealt with finding jobs for female students from the Czech Republic and Slovakia as childminders in Great Britain. The next step was the sale of airline tickets and tours.

Later, the characteristic yellow RegioJet buses appeared on the roads. In 2011, yellow trains from this company also hit the tracks. Janczura openly announced that he wanted to eliminate the state monopoly in transport. He took part in tenders for long-distance and local connections. It entered the Slovak, Hungarian, Austrian and German markets.

At the end of 2024, the Polish Office of Rail Transport granted Janczury a license to operate commercial rail connections. RegioJet has permits, among others: for servicing the Gdynia-Kraków, Kraków-Warsaw, Warsaw-Gdynia, Warsaw-Przemyśl, Przemyśl-Hanover, Warsaw-Vienna routes and for a seasonal connection to Rijeka and Split in Croatia.

Currently, yellow trains are present only on one national route in Poland – between Krakow and Warsaw. There is also a connection from Prague to Przemyśl and Krakow.
