Hands shook when I saw the first fruit: how I managed to grow mangoes in the greenhouse and not go crazy with happiness

To tear ripe mango directly from the tree, without leaving its site – a dream that becomes a reality. Due to the change in climate and modern greenhouses, gardeners successfully grow this exotic fruit even in the northern part of the country. On DZEN.RU (16+), the Channel “Garden and Garden” reveals secrets, starting with the choice of variety to the first harvest.

Conditions for mangoes

1. Greenhouse:

Choose a polycarbonate or glass structure with an area of 15 – 20 m² with ventilation and heating.

2. Climate:

Maintain a temperature of 25-30 degrees and humidity 60 – 70%, imitating the tropics.

3. Lighting:

Provide the daylight hours no shorter than 12 hours using the phytolamp red and blue spectrum.

4. Soil:

Light soil needs young plants, and ordinary soil is suitable for adult trees.

Varieties for the greenhouse

Recommended varieties are compact and stable:

1. Kent:

Juicy, sweet fruits.

2. We dock May:

Fragrant and unpretentious.

3. Alpho:

Small, ideal for greenhouses.

Planting from seed

Remove the bone from the ripe fruit and soak it in warm water (slightly hot to the touch) in the thermos for 24 hours. Plant in a light soil to a depth of 2 – 3 cm, maintaining humidity.

Watering should be moderate as the soil dries. Use fertilizers for fruit trees according to standard graphics. Form a crown from a height of 50 cm. For the first 3 years, protect the young tree from the cold.

When to wait for the crop?

From seed: 4 – 5 years.

From the seedling: 3 – 4 years.

In the greenhouse, mango rarely suffers from pests. Prevention is enough to keep the tree healthy.
