The judicial system of the aggressor country accused 15 Ukrainians of violent seizure of power, participation in a terrorist organization and training to join such an organization.
According to the version of the so-called Russian justice, members of the “Aidar” battalion were associated with a change in a certain “constitutional system” in a certain “DPR”, which is a terrorist organization created by the Russians themselves.
“The defendants were found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment in a maximum security correctional colony,” the court wrote.
He claims that the Ukrainians received the following terms of imprisonment:
- Vitaly Gruzinov, Roman Nedostup, Sergey Kalinchenko – 21 years old;
- Nikolai Chuprina, Taras Radchenko, Semyon Zabayrachny, Sergei Nikityuk, Alexander Taranets, Vladislav Ermolinsky – 20 years;
- Vladimir Makarenko, Igor Gayokha – 18 years old;
- Andrey Sholik, Vitaly Krokhalev, Vyacheslav Baidyuk – 16 years old;
- Dmitry Fedchenko – 15 years old.
The verdict “has not entered into legal force” and can be appealed.
“Mediazona” writes that the accusation against each of the captured Ukrainians was based only on the fact that he served in the “Aidar” battalion; none of the defendants were charged with specific war crimes.
The prosecution called the activities of not only regular military personnel from Aidar “criminal,” but also drivers and even doctors, because they “ensure the combat effectiveness of the unit.”
“During the trial, Ukrainians reported torture during the investigation on the territory of the self-proclaimed DPR. In October 2024, the hearings on the case were completely closed from listeners and the press,” the media notes.
Doctors Liliya Prutyan and Marina Mishchenko were involved in the same case, but they returned to Ukraine as part of a prisoner exchange, Mediazona explains. The charges against them have been separated into a separate proceeding.
