“The introduction of a 35-hour work week at the City Hall in Szczecinek turned out to be so attractive that almost day by day the problem of lack of interest in working in the town hall disappeared,” said the mayor of Szczecinek Jerzy Hardie-Douglas in an interview with the local government portal.
As the mayor explained, The new system of shorter working time at the City Hall assumes that employees will have a free one day a week. It will not always be one permanent day – once it will be Friday, once Monday. In this way, employed will be able to enjoy longer weekends. As the mayor of Szczecinek pointed out, the office will remain open to residents five days a week. In this way, the continuity of service will be maintained.

As the mayor of Szczecinek noted, the four -day work week in the office is possible thanks to technological progress, including the application of artificial intelligence, which allows for more effective performance of tasks.
This decision not only attracted new employees, but also emphasizes how a modern approach to work organization can change the perception of public administration.

As the “Local Government Portal” reminds, Government plans for shorter working time arouse skepticism of even local government officials. “The pilot, which the government wants to allocate 10 million, looks a bit like a mockery, taking into account the number of its addressees-I do not know how much money they would get,” said Hardie-Douglas, whose words are quoted by “Local Government Portal”.
