Conflict of Polish Television with ZAiKS. A lawsuit for a huge sum was brought to court

The “Super Express” website informs that the case went to court on Thursday, February 12, which was confirmed to the newspaper by the president of the association, Miłosz Bembinow.
The lawsuit means that the parties did not reach an agreement and the demands for payment were unsuccessful. It concerns nearly PLN 40 million that TVP did not pay in 2025 in respect of due royalties for the use of works broadcast in the public broadcaster's programs.
ZAiKS spokeswoman Anna Klimczak explained in a recent conversation with the Wirtualne Media portal that the association is forced to take legal steps to minimize the negative impact of delays on author's remuneration.
Dispute between Telewizja Polska and ZAiKS. “General declarations” instead of millions
In December, TVP settled about half of the debt, but the amount of debt immediately began to grow again. Wirtualne Media reports that ZAiKS has already informed the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and other ministries about the problems.
TVP authorities in official statements assure that they take the matter seriously, but the broadcaster is struggling with financial problemsand their reasons are, among others, activities of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT). However, ZAiKS representatives claim that they only receive “general declarations” from Telewizja Polska.
Anna Klimczak reported that ZAIKS does not have similar problems with other public mediabecause, for example, radio stations settle their royalties on time.
