Marian Enache ends his mandate of president of the Constitutional Court (CCR) on Tuesday, June 10, and on Wednesday will be the interim president of the institution, according to a decision published today in the Official Gazette.
“Starting with June 11, 2025, the interim president of the Constitutional Court is elected to the judge Marian Enache, until the expiration of the mandate of judge of the Constitutional Court, according to the law,” it is stated in the decision adopted by the RCC on June 5, with unanimous votes, and published on June 10 in the Official Gazette. The decision was distributed in the online environment by lawyer Toni Neacșu, former judge and former member of the Superior Council of Magistracy.
Marian Enache is among the three RCC judges whose mandates will be concluded in July. The other two are Livia Stanciu and Attila Varga.
According to the legal procedure, every three years are appointed three judges at the RCC, one by the Presidential Administration, the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. The mandate lasts for nine years, but cannot be renewed.
Marian Enache is a member of the RCC since 2016 and president of 2022. He was appointed by the Senate at the PSD proposal. Previously he was deputy for several legislatures from FSN, PDSR and PSD.
Attila Varga is a member of the RCC since 2016, being appointed by the Chamber of Deputies at the UDMR proposal. He was deputy between 1990 and 2012.
Livia Stanciu is a judge profession and has been president of high courts of house and justice. In 2016 it was appointed as a member of the Constitutional Court by President Klaus Iohannis.
