Conferences “About the world we live in”, at the Romanian Athenaeum, May 16-17 – a festival of conferences and cultural and scientific dialogues on current topics, supported by important specialists and prestigious cultural people

Between May 16-17, Manfred Spitzer, Corneliu Bjola and Mihnea Măruță, and their dialogue partners, Cătălin Ștefănescu, Magda Grădinaru and Gabriel Liiceanu, will be present on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, at the ninth edition of the conference festival “About the world we live in”.

As in the previous editions, this event aims to bring to the public current themes, addressed by public figures, specialists and researchers recognized in their fields and by the scientific communities they belong to.

Each guest will deliver a one-hour conference, followed by an in-depth dialogue that promises to open up new perspectives. The 2026 edition focuses on artificial intelligence, exploring its profound impact on our lives and the world through the lens of neuroscience, philosophy, technology and digital diplomacy.

They want the conference Manfred Spitzer, one of the most famous neuroscientists in Germany, a recognized expert in neural networks – the foundation of artificial intelligence, the author of the volumes Artificial Intelligence. How a superhuman creation helps and threatens us, Digital Dementia. How new technologies and Loneliness mess with our minds. The unrecognized disease, Corneliu Bjola, professor of digital diplomacy at Oxford University and coordinator of the Oxford Digital Diplomacy Research Group, and Mihnea Măruță, journalist, doctor of philosophy and author of the bestseller Virtual Identity.

The annual series of conferences and cultural and scientific dialogues “About the world we live in” is organized by the Humanitas Aqua Forte Foundation, in collaboration with the Humanitas Publishing House and the ARCCA Association, and the presence of this year's guests was possible thanks to the support received from the DEDEMAN Association, the main partner.

The events will be presented by Marius Constantinescu, cultural journalist and TV producer.
